Davina Keiser For LBUSD Governing Board, Dist. 4

I am a product of the Long Beach School system.  I am recently retired, after forty years of service and am a specialist in math and music. Most recently, I completed 12 years at Wilson High School, which was my alma mater. SimuItaneously, I  completed service as the elected treasurer for the Teachers Union of Long Beach where I managed a budget of nearly $2 M and was able to bring the organization back to solvency after several years of poor decision making prior to my arrival. I have served as a panel member for the California Teacher Credentialing Board's Commission on Professional Competency, the body charged with  hearing teacher dismissal cases, where I confer with the Administrative Law Judge and the District representative to render fair results.  I have been active in the community my entire life and have supported Girl Scouting, The Long Beach Symphony's "Instrument Petting Zoo" and have volunteered for over 30 years with the Long Beach Symphony Pops! The reason I am running for school board is to provide my expertise and see that funds allocated for education arrive at their intended destinations. I also want to provide parents with full disclosure as to the curriculum being taught in the classroom so that they may make informed choices regarding the path for their children's learning. I also want to ensure that LBUSD students are prepared for college and career by providing them with educational pathway choices that include the skilled trades, partnered with local business that will provide training through internships, shadowing, apprenticeships and more. One size does not fit all.
